October 2026 Storage Change: Microsoft 365 Family in Pakistan — Price, Features & How to Buy

Microsoft just made its biggest Microsoft 365 change in years: the 1 TB of OneDrive storage each Family member received is being replaced by a single 2 TB pool shared across everyone — effective October 8, 2026 for new subscriptions. This guide covers Microsoft 365 Family in Pakistan: what changed, what you get, and the cheap PKR price from Unique Digital with 30-minute WhatsApp delivery.

The October 2026 News: Family Storage Just Changed

• 1 TB per person → one shared 2 TB pool. Until now, every Family member had a private 1 TB of OneDrive (up to 6 TB total on a full plan). New and upgraded Family and Premium subscriptions now share 2 TB across up to 6 people. Extra storage you buy also lands in the shared pool.
• Who feels it when: new subscribers from October 8, 2026; existing subscribers only at their first renewal on or after May 2, 2027 — and Microsoft says some will get bonus storage added at that transition.
• Price unchanged. Family stays at $12.99/month and Premium at $19.99/month. Microsoft’s reasoning: shared storage “goes where it’s needed” and unused space benefits the whole family instead of sitting idle.
• New: Microsoft 365 Pro. A fresh plan with 5 TB of shared storage for power users. Basic (100 GB) and Personal (1 TB) are single-user plans and are unaffected.

Also new: the October 2026 Copilot Notebooks update adds direct Office editing, AI automations and interactive reports — included with Microsoft 365.

What Is Microsoft 365 Family?

Microsoft 365 Family is the flagship home plan: the full premium Office suite for up to 6 people, each with their own Microsoft account, 5 device installs per person, Copilot AI, advanced security and cloud storage. One subscription covers the whole family — or a freelancer team or student group.

What You Get with Microsoft 365 Family

• Premium Office apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote — always the latest versions on PC, Mac, iOS and Android.
• Copilot AI included: AI writing, analysis and slide-building inside Office, plus new Copilot Notebooks features.
• Cloud storage: 2 TB shared OneDrive pool for the subscription (new model from Oct 8, 2026); each member’s files stay private to them.
• Security for everyone: Microsoft Defender, ransomware protection and Outlook’s advanced email security across all 6 accounts.
• Microsoft Teams: premium calling and meetings for all members.

Family vs Personal vs the New Pro Plan

Split 6 ways, Family costs $2.17 per person per month — the cheapest way to get the full Office suite with Copilot.

Why Pakistan Needs Microsoft 365 Family in 2026

• Students: Word, Excel and PowerPoint are still the submission standard in Pakistani universities — premium apps beat the free web versions and mobile-only viewers.
• Freelancers: clients send .docx/.xlsx contracts and reports; premium Outlook plus Copilot summaries keep proposals professional and fast.
• Small businesses: 6 seats with Teams, Defender and OneDrive sharing cover a startup team for less than one international coffee per person per month.
• Families: one plan, six private accounts — kids’ schoolwork, parents’ documents and everyone’s photos, each person separate.

Pro Tips for New Microsoft 365 Owners

• Beat the May 2027 storage transition. Existing Family subscribers keep 1 TB-per-person storage until their first renewal on/after May 2, 2027 — plan big backups before then.
• Give each person their own account. Six private Microsoft accounts means six private document sets — nobody sees anyone else’s files.
• Try Copilot Notebooks first. The October 2026 update lets Copilot edit Word/Excel/PowerPoint files directly and run scheduled automations — the fastest win for students and freelancers.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Assuming 6 TB of storage still. A full Family plan used to mean 1 TB × 6 people; since Oct 8, 2026 it is 2 TB shared. Check your actual usage before panic-buying extra storage.
• Buying Personal for a team. One Personal seat per person costs far more than one Family plan split six ways.
• Paying Microsoft in dollars. International cards, conversion fees and auto-renewal surprises — order from a local seller in PKR instead.
